Dedication to the preservation of the way...
Our Life CHAIRMAN Stephen Grayston ?????? • ?????? (Hanshi 10 Dan) has spent many years promoting and preserving the traditional art of Karate-Do, he is founder of his own system - Shindo-Ryu Karate-Do, and it is widely acknowledged as one of the most traditional systems of Karate-Do in the world today. The ryu teaches philosophy and gives spiritual guidance to their students, something seldom seen outside of Okinawa and Japan.
He strongly believes that the future of the traditional arts of Okinawa and Japan will only survive time if those practicing unite and work together for a common good. He has followed this idea into practice with the Hanshi No Iinkai which was his concept and idea.
He is an Ambassador to the traditional martial arts having taught in 26 countries (to date) to literally thousands of students. He understands the Japanese ways and to this end has developed a Anglo-Japanese society in the area he lives and is partner with Shintaku Shiro-hanshi in the development of a traditional martial arts Federation that is achieving worldwide respect - Kodo Butoku Renmei.
In November 2003, Grayston-hanshi was presented with a 'Special Commendation' from the Embassy of Japan (UK) by Asano Atsuyuki-sama for his forty years of service and dedication to traditional Karate-Do. At the same event, he also received a Special Resolution' from the Senate of Maryland USA.
