Preserving the martial arts...
As each year passes, we see a decline in the traditional martial arts of Japan and Okinawa. This has arisen because of the passing of masters in the east and the reluctance of their family and senior students to continue the heritage left to them. This void, together with the western 'sport' approach to the eastern arts is steadily aiding the erosion of the traditional/classical martial arts throughout the world. We believe our methods can preserve and promote the traditional/classical martial arts, and nuture them for future generations.
Our founders recognised that it needed the seniors of the traditional/classical martial art groups around the world to firstly recognise the problem and then unite to combat what they saw as decline in the arts they have worked a lifetime to preserve. They accepted that if a master achieves 'Hachidan' (8 Dan) and also holds a 'Hanshi' title, then they have been training for at least 35 - 40 years and have much to contribute to the preservation of the traditional/classical martial arts. This then became the criteria for membership to an elite 'Board of Hanshi' who could work as a think-tank and preservation society for the arts that members practise.
